Jennifer Rene Psaki
Jennifer Rene Psaki is an American political advisor who worked as the 34th White House press secretary from 2021 to 2022. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously worked in the Obama administration as the White House deputy press secretary (2009) as well as the White House deputy communications director (2009-2011); the spokesperson of the United States Department of State (2013-2015) as well as the White House communications director (2015-2017. Psaki contributed to CNN's politics coverage from 2017 until 2020. Psaki started her career in 2001, as an official political contributor for CNN. She was involved in the campaign for re-election of Tom Harkin (Iowa Democrats) for the U.S. Senate, and Tom Vilsack (Iowa Governor). Psaki then became deputy press secretary for John Kerry's presidential campaign. Psaki also served as communications director for Joseph Crowley (U.S.) and was the regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Psaki returned in 2012 to political communication and was press secretary for President Obama’s 2012 election campaign. The 11th of February 2013 Psaki became spokesperson for the United States Department of State. The appointment in the Department of State fueled speculation that she could replace White House Press Secretary Jay Carney when he left the White House. However, on May 30th, 2014 it was announced that Josh Earnest would replace Carney. In the year 2015, she was recalled to the White House as communications director and stayed through the end of the Obama administration.
